After more than 35 years under President Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe now faces a crisis involving severe economic hardship, looming drought and awful outbreaks of cholera and typhoid. AE’s Team Leader Guide Makore writes urgently, “The prices have tripled and now 2 liters of cooking oil which used to cost $3 now costs $18!”
When food is unaffordable and water is contaminated, malnutrition and even famine are the tragic result. Cholera, however, is not difficult to prevent. It only requires access to safe drinking water and practicing good hygiene and sanitation. But if no clean water is available, then cholera can cause severe diarrhea that can lead to dehydration and death.
With your help, we can secure the desperately needed $10,000 required to drill a borehole to provide clean water to that young children to not suffer the ravages of cholera and typhoid. Thank you!
